Working with trichomonas vaginalis (TV)

TV is caused by a parasite.

This STI often occurs in combination with other STIs, such as gonorrhoea. You will be treated with antibiotics; a single, high-dose.

The advice is to have limited sexual contact only, for one week after treatment. Given the work you do, this could be difficult.

What can you do?

• Masturbation is possible
• Anal sex with condom
• Blow job with condom.

What can't you do?

• No vaginal sex, with or without a condom
• Don’t allow yourself to be fingered
• Don’t allow genital contact (dry sex). This applies to sex with your clients and any partner you may have
• Don’t drink alcohol on the day of treatment
• Don’t share wet flannels
