New book: Facing HIV in the Netherlands
Compared to the indigenous Dutch population, HIV prevalence is rather high among migrant and ethnic minority communities. Even though migrants are increasingly being recognised as an important group in HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, little is known about how they live their daily lives. The book 'Facing HIV in the Netherlands' aims to bridge that gap.

HIV and other STIs in the Netherlands
A lot has been achieved over the past decade in the Netherlands in terms of the control of HIV and other STIs. Practically everyone knows how he or she can minimize the risk of contracting an STI as much as possible. Many STIs are being quickly detected and treated. Many people with HIV in the Netherlands can once again make long-term plans.
But in spite of this there are indications that people in the Netherlands have been taking more risks over the past couple of years. In addition, we are in close contact with areas in the world where HIV and other STIs are either already widespread or increasing explosively. One can say there is a delicate balance in the Netherlands in the control of HIV and other STIs.
STI AIDS Netherlands is the Dutch expertise centre for HIV and other STIs. Among other things, our task is to inform people about how they can make healthy choices and to motivate them to take care of themselves and others.
